Abstract: The groundwater resources often plays significant role of supporting the social development, especially the drinking water supply. Challenged by the global trends such as climate change and growing of urbanization, the harmonization of groundwater in urban system becomes more complicated. The current Decision Support Systems (DSSs) show weaknesses in balancing the environmental sustainability and satisfaction of the stakeholders. The numerical modelling techniques integrated with well spread real-time monitoring system gains more interests by the DSS designers, especially the High Resolution (HR) model simulation. This paper presents one application of integrating high resolution model system in a real time DSS at Var catchment (2,800km2) in the French Mediterranean region. Two HR models of hydrology and groundwater were integrated into one DSS to produce a clear view of the water exchange between surface and shallow aquifers at downstream part of the catchment (last 22km). The developed DSS is currently sued by the local managers with a higher level of satisfaction. The methodology and technical application described here will directly contribute to the future DSS application in any other catchment for different purposes.
