Abstract: This paper describes the results of a study performed to determine the magnitude of the residual currents remaining in a water-filled tank, at various time, intervals after the passage of a towed body. The study was performed with cylindrical models towed by an endless cable arrangement. Residual currents were indicated by the motion of particles of neutral density which was recorded by multiple exposure photography and videotape. The results of this research have been applied to the towing of current meters in a calibration tank.
