Abstract: Waste thermal discharge from coastal power plants brings great concern on coastal marine pollution in China. On-site observation is an important approach to evaluate the real extent of the thermal impact, but there is no complete method to satisfy both the large monitoring scale and high precision requirements. A simultaneously observation by water surface moving measurement on boat and aerial remote sensing is carried out in the nearby marine area of a nuclear power plant. The surface water temperature distributions at different moments are analyzed and the difference between two observation methods are compared. The recommended observation approach is combination of the water surface moving measurement and remote sensing together.
