Abstract: Climate change is a global issue which is obviously challenging and impacting not only an envirionmental problem but also an economic challenge. Most of Vietnam’s socio-economic fields are adversedly impacted by climate change. Therefore, it is necessary to do research in each field for proactive solutions of adaption and mitigation of the impacts. A general response strategy and plan can only be achieved after the vulnerability of each field is identified. In this research, the impacts of climate change on agriculture, aquaculture, marine and coastal ecosystem and water resources in Central Vietnam have been overviewed. The Vu Gia-Thu Bon river basin is considered as an case study for hazard assessment by using MIKE FLOOD model due to flood under the impact of climate change. Then, the flood risk maps for various return periods of flood were done based on the depth, duration flooding and flow velocity using the weighting factors. The risk levels were classified into very low, low, medium, high and very high. The matrix overlapping map method is used to estimate flood damage. The results show that the Dai Hiep, Vinh Dien, Dai Quang, Dai Nghia, Duy Thanh, Duy Vinh, Cam Thanh, Cam Ha, Cam Kim, Minh An, Hoi An, Que Xuan, Que Phuoc, Thang Binh are the most high risk area due to floods.
