Abstract: The purpose of this study is to propose curtain grouting treatment for the Vendarasankulum twin reservoir in the next stage. In year 2007, a 100 m length of the dam through which the seepage is severe was treated using curtain grouting, in the first stage. In this study, the experience and knowledge gained in the first stage is used to construct grout curtains in a further length of 400 m through which seepage is still continuing. Whilst cement grout curtains are proposed for the dam foundation, clay: cement grout curtains are proposed for the dam embankment. Since high plasticity (CH) clay is needed for the clay: cement grouting, six clayey soil sites from the region were evaluated with respect to parameters such liquid limit, plasticity index and a number of external factors. After assigning weights to these parameters, a clayey-soil deposit located 35 km away from Vendarasankulum twin reservoir, in the eastern area of the tank and around the Janaranjana Wewa was chosen.
