Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis for Design Crest Level of Sea Dikes in Vietnam

Abstract: A methodology for sensitivity and uncertainty analysis for sea dike crest level is presented using the dimensionless sensitivity coefficient and the First Order Variance Analysis. Demonstrations are conducted for two different configurations of an allowable overtopping sea dike and the 2%run-up level sea dike in Cat Hai Island, Hai Phong. Evaluations for the design water levels and wave parameters provided in the new Technical Standards for Sea Dike Design are also provided together with a recommendation on their uses.
