Abstract: A lot of non-overflow groins that do not sink under the water at the ordinary water flow are used, and it is known to it does working that keeps away the water current form the river bank. On the other hand, when the water level is surpassing of the height of the groin, it becomes to sink. In this study, it aimed to clarify the characteristic of the bed level variation and the flow velocity profile of the flow-field around a single groin by the laboratory experiments. In the experiment, the height of the groin was made constant. The discharge and water depth have been systematically changed so that the Froude number may become 0.2. As a result, the maximum depth of the scour has become small relatively high the height of the groin compared with depth. Moreover, the main flow velocity to the cross-sectional average flow velocity has grown, too.
