Abstract: Overwhelming human pressures on coastal environment have demanded for action in order to stop ecological deterioration. For this reason the construction of a common framework for management activities at ports has become acutely necessary. This work proposes a Common Model for environmentally and sustainable development of South East European ports as a core objective in European project TENECOPORT. Common Model is fully harmonized with nowadays legislation and regulations and it overcomes decision traps as it always results in a realistic and constructive planning able to meet needs of port decision makers.
