Abstract: Marine energies, which include wave, tidal and offshore wind energy, are among the largest renewable resources in Spain. However, they are not taking part yet in the national energy mix. In order to achieve a full degree of development, the marine energy sector will need a proper regulatory framework. This work analyses ongoing research activities, pilot projects and lessons learned from other European countries in order to suggest policy measures that could contribute to boost the marine energies in Spain.
