Abstract: Environmental impact of surrounding waters around pipes is of paramount importance. Study of water quality systems supply has always been interesting, but in the last 10 years, it has become a necessity. One of the causes of the water characteristics alteration is the intrusion of possible external pollutants due to transient variations of pressure inside the pipes. This phenomenon is known as pathogen intrusion. A broad summary of the state of the art in modeling this phenomenon, both by hydraulic experimental and computational models, is also presented.
