Abstract: Conventionally, unsteady flow that appears in channel after dam-break is being considered as the wave of elevation. However, the flow can be considered also as the wave of lowering in relation to initial state of upstream water. In the paper, namely the case of current in horizontal channel is analyzed from viewpoint of the theory of energy propagation (TEP). Purpose of the paper is to demonstrate methodology based on the theory and to show peculiarities of such water flow following from the analysis.
