Abstract: For the purpose of reliable hydrological design information PMP are being considered at least as a referential estimation for comparison. Portugal has recently experience three consecutive very wet years, with severe flooding in all of them. The last flood events made 11 casualties in Southern Portugal and 20 in the contiguous Spanish province of Extremadura, much of them dictated by the ruin of several landfill roads that acted as earth dams. In this paper new PMP estimates for five points spread through the Portuguese territory are formulated to help in the subsequent design process.
