Abstract: The physical model, which was previously constructed for the evaluation of various river training alternatives, was used later for the verification of the numerical model. Detailed measurements were conducted on the physical model but after some simplifications. The numerical model, with basic equations which were obtained by depth-averaging and spatial filtering with turbulence model with Sub Grid Scale (SGS) turbulent kinetic energy, was developed and verified with measurements on physical model. The agreements between calculations and measurements were basically very good. However, the discrepancies exist in regions where basic assumptions of shallow water flow are disturbed.
