Abstract: The paper deals with the sedimentation process caused by a special training work calling Double Spiral Sand Trap. The principle was already introduced at the IAHR Congress in San Francisco, 1997. In this paper results from physical model tests using synthetic model sediment to evaluate the sedimentation process in detail are presented. The time related sedimentation process as well as the maximum possible deposition are expressed with representative dimensionless parameters. The results can be used as design criteria for practical application on the condition that geometric similarity is given. In order to get a more comprehensive knowledge about the sedimentation process in general, further investigations have to be carried out with respect to a larger variety of training works.
