Abstract: A 1D numerical model is reported that has the capability of modeling changes of beach profile and mean grain size caused by tsunami waves. The hydrodynamic model adopts highly nonlinear and weakly dispersive Boussinesq equations and couples the sediment transport and morphological evolution models. The combined model is validated using available laboratory experiments and could well resolve the tsunami wave propagate, runup and rundown on the beach, also could simulate scouring process and sorting of sand grains.
