Abstract: In this paper, we formulate three local equilibrium distribution functions for use in the enhanced lattice Boltzmann method for shallow water equations (eLABSWE). Using one of the functions in the lattice Boltzmann equation can recover the macroscopic shallow water equations. Their effect on accuracy and stability are investigated through simulations of wind-induced flows in a dish-shaped basin. It is found that the eLABSWE together with one of the three local equilibrium distribution functions can produce same accurate solutions but their influence on numerical stability is different in terms of the single relaxation time. This providesan opportunity to choose asuitablelocal equilibrium distribution function for the eLABSWE in simulating practical shallow water flows.
