Method of Prognostication of Distribution of Radio-Active Contamination in Surface Water

Abstract: The focus of this study is to describe radionuclide pollution transport in the surface water using a box model with lagging argument (UNDBE). It is hypothesized that this model will increase the accuracy of the prediction of pollutant concentration at the outlet of the box. In addition, the complexity of the mathematical model and programming tools are comparable to the simplest of current models for predicting pollution concentrations in running surface waters. Results of calibration of the model on the post-Chernobyl dataset of field measurements through critical 1994, 1999 and comparison with the box model for complete mixing and validation on data (90Sr) through critical situations are given. The research of passing of ejections tritium in 350 kilometers channel Loire River (France) was made in the framework of the IAEA program EMRAS with help of the model. The possibilities for managing on the consequences of accidental events of volley inflow of the muddy 238U mine waters in the Zoltaja River (in the region of Krivoy Rog, Ukraine) and some possibilities to manage on the consequences of 3H ejections in the Loire River basin are presented in the work.
