Abstract: This paper concerns with restoration of a reedbed on a major bed in a river, because it became deteriorated by degradation of a riverbed of a low flow channel. The selected restoration measure was the lowering of ground surface of a reedbed and transplantation of a reed. Important design factors; the relative height of the new reedbed ground surface, preparation of a reedbed, and the method of a reed transplantation were examined by field experiments, and their results are presented. More than 5 years monitoring data in the restored reedbed and the successful results of the project are also presented.
