Quantitative Analysis of Terrestrial Landscape Evolution of Shenyang Based on Remote Sensing

Abstract: Using MSS, landsat-5, landdsat-7 satellite image and GIS technology, this paper has extracted the surface water resources distribution and land use information of the four counties and one county level city of Shenyang Municipality of China in three periods, namely year 1979, 2000, and 2005, and has analyzed the impact of human activities and land use change upon the spatial distribution of surface water resources considering the index of landscape ecology. The research reveals that the chronological distribution of surface water resources of Shenyang Municipality shows a momentum of “More-Less-More” in the shape of letter U. At the same time, the focus of spatial distribution is constantly moving towards the densely populated and economically developed southern part of the city, which shows that the social and economic activities of human beings in Shenyang city is also playing a decisive role in the spatial distribution of surface water resources.
