Abstract: VOF method is used to simulate wind-driven water current in model Taihu Lake based on two-phase flow theory. The stable flow characteristics of model Taihu Lake which under the speed of west wind is 5m/s in the paper. The results of numerical simulation showed that the wind field above model Taihu Lake form a vortex, and The part of model Taihu Lake form two main vortexes of two opposite directions which are close to the inlet. And there are some different sizes of small vortexes in the long and narrow waterways. The flow rate of the water body from top to bottom was gradually reduced, and the nearshore flow velocity is always greater than the flow rate of the center of the lake. However, the water flow direction is the same as the wind flow direction overall. The numerical simulation results agree with the experiment data. It can better reflect the flow pattern characteristics of the wind-driven current in Taihu Lake.
