Abstract: Singapore, as a heavily urbanized, island city-state in Southeast Asia, has experienced a few significant flood events in recent years due to its abundant rainfall and existence of low-lying areas. A reliable modelling system is therefore of great importance for Singapore. This paper will present the construction of a hydrological model for the Marina Catchment in Singapore within the MIKE 11 modelling system, with an emphasis on parameter calibration using hydrological and meteorological measurements. The conceptual NAM model was preferred for its comprehensiveness and simplicity in describing hydrologic processes. The rainfall events with reasonable discharge/rainfall ratios were selected for model calibration and validation. The auto-calibration feature of the NAM model was utilized to optimize the parameters with the objectives to minimize overall water balance error and root mean square error in peak flows. This mentioned process and the results will be presented and discussed in this paper.
