Abstract: The heavy rainfalls of Japan tend to generate driftwood in large quantities. That driftwood accumulates at river structures and can lead to disaster. We researched driftwood generated by two large floods (in 2003 and 2006) in the Saru River Basin. Driftwood accumulation and movement in the river channel were clarified.
