Abstract: The quant ities o f water supplied from water network to consumers are variable and depend on water consumpt ion diagram. Water-supply systems are equipped with regulat ing tanks. For decreasing the required vo lume of the tank the number of operating feeding pumps during the day is changed. As a result a non-stable flow arises in the water supply system. In this art icle both transient processes taking place in the system and the changes of operating regimes of the pumps are discussed. In the suggested method of the solut ion of the problem the possible change of flow direct ion in any segment of the pipeline is taken into account too. A method for establishing of primary condit ions for the system o f different ial equat ions, describing the non-stable flow, is presented.
