Reservoir Regulation of Runoff in Dams, Weirs or Cascades with a View to Hydro Power Plant Operation

Abstract: In order to meet the needs from water discharge of HPP operating without doubled capacity and covering of peak load, algorithms and software were developed for daily, seasonal, annual and long-term period regulation of the runoff and for calculation the necessary volumes of dams, weirs and cascades. Regulation of the runoff and the useful dam volume are carried out for observed period from 20 to 50 years. On economic considerations by investigation of the water - power output the probability 90% is accepted for the minimum runoff and in this connection also for the water shortage of the dam volume. The water – power research by design of HPP is accomplished on the basis of observations of the water discharges and the regulated ability of the project. Initially, the hydrometric stations are selected at the available analogy with the building project and then the correlative connection is found assessed by general and genuine correlative coefficients. The transferring to the project of the observations is made with the coefficient of analogy. From the theoretical curves of probability this is chosen with min dispersion. By the last curve the average monthly distributions are settled with probability from 2% to 90% by statistical method or by observations over 20 years by empirical method. During the investigated period of the regulation the volumes of discharge, overflow and shortage are calculated, as and determination for the accepted volume of the reservoir whether the normative security 90% of the need is executed. As well the power output of the HPP and its participation in coverage of the charge diagram of load in the peak, sub-peak, daily, daily/nightly are determined in separate months and years by statistical or empirical method.
