Abstract: The paper presents a comparison study of numerical simulations between a lattice Boltzmann method (LABSWE) and a high-resolution Godunov-type method (SGM) for shallow water flows. Two benchmark tests are investigated with the numerical methods and the results are compared with each other and also available analytical solution. The study has shown that both methods can produce numerical solutions at the similar high accuracy. However, the LABSWE is much simpler and more efficient with very easy treatment of boundary conditions in terms of computational cost.
