Abstract: Internal flood with excess rainfalls that are surpass an ability of drainage repeated recently in Japan. One of basic directions minimizing inundation damage is promoting selfhelp approaches. We studied about Small-scale storage and/or Infiltration Facilities, hereinafter referred to as SIF, which are introduced to single family home located in urban areas. We have studied SIF performances, such as basic infiltration performance and tolerability of clogging with turbid. As a result, we confirmed following three points. The first is the infiltration performance is equivalent to traditional infiltration facilities. Because of larger inner vacant space, SIFs have a better runoff control performance. The second is the clogging problem with deposited turbid, the traditional facilities tend to fall into, seldom occurs with SIFs. The last is SIF installation on an appropriate scale has good effect on runoff control.
