Abstract: Recently, it is demanded of quality not only water quality but also comfortableness or amenity that are more natural than artificial by most people. The charcoal is used from old times and one of popular materials in Japan. The charcoal has many effective activities such as an adsorption of stink or humidity. In this study, it is paid to charcoal’s adsorption ability, and it is clear the effect of water quality remediation by charcoal in the river. And it is proposed the zero emission activity by the charcoal cycle that is Thinning, Making charcoal – Water elutriation – Cultivation of trees. Target river is Kamagawa River located at the central Utsunomiya in Japan. Year mean Discharge is about from 0. 2m3/s to 0. 3m3/s. It is set the charcoal. Analysis of water is dissolved ions (Na, Mg, Ca, Cl, SO4, NO2), BOD, COD, SS, pH, EC and water temperature. It is clear that the amount of total ions is decrease 10% down and COD is below 50% . The charcoal remediation is effective and available method. And it is thought that the charcoal cycle is contribute to zero emission activity and is soft to ecology and the river environment.
