Abstract: The Proposed shipyard is located on the east bank of Y River, about 10 km away from C city. The projects consist of revetment, traversing area, shiplift, outfitting wharf, guiding pier, bear platform project, access bridge and shiplift basin. The underwater parts of the wharf and traversing area are rows of piles with permeability to water. Because the proposed shipyard is located in the reach affected by strong tide, the flow and sediment movement in this area are very complicated. In order to understand the flow field after the project and solve the siltation problem in the future, the research was carried out by adopting a physical model assisted by a mathematical model. The physical model, which was consisted of a part of river width, was used to study the flow field of engineering area and the height of backwater due to piles. Movable and permeable boundary which can be adjusted was selected. The two-dimensional unsteady flow mathematical model was used. The model result is used to simulate siltation among piles and in the shiplift basin. The research result has been applied and the effect is very good.
