Abstract: A model, Gx-model, with the general dispersion equation, was employed to simulate the bedload aggradation process due to overloading. Before the simulation, the downstream boundary condition was first examined from experimental data. It was found that the deposition at the downstream end should not be zero; especially the sediment mixture was used. Thus a characteristic flume length was proposed to satisfy the boundary condition. The parameters, advective velocity u and diffusion coefficient of overloaded sediment E in the Gx-model, were calibrated by using experimental data. Their physics meaning was discussed and the diffusion activity is significant for sediment mixture in comparison with uniform sediment. In this study, the Gx-model derived is in reasonably good agreement with the experimental results. It notably demonstrates that the process of aggradation phenomena can be perfectly described by the dispersion equation; still, a comprehensive investigation for the parameters in the models is required.
