Abstract: A mathematical model is presented for mud mass and suspended sediment transport under the combined action of wave and current. The Herschel-Bulkley constitutive equation is used to model the viscoplastic mud. The Reynolds equations and k-εequations are employed to model turbulent flow. The model is applied to the computation of sudden siltation thickness in the navigation channel of the Huanghua Port and is validated through the comparison with filed test data. The effect of power law exponent, consistency index and yield shear stress on sediment deposition is also examined.
