Abstract: Through the analysis of distribution regions of water and sediment resources in every period, the article makes a comprehensive exposition on the changing characteristics of water and sediment resources distribution in the middle and lower Yellow River in recent years. With decreasing of amounts of incoming water and sediment significantly, and developing use of water and sediment greatly, the amount of water and sediment entering into the river mouth dropped. There were some problems: the ratio of deposition in the river channel to incoming sediment load was increased and the rate of water withdrawing and sediment withdrawing was not harmonious. The changing characteristics of water and sediment resources distribution caused some negative impacts on river variation and aggravated the seriousness of flood control regime.
