Abstract: The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) has developed the series of computer models GSTARS (Generalized Sediment Transport model for Alluvial River Simulation). The latest version is GSTARS3. GSTARS3 adds a number of additional features over the previous versions (GSTARS 2.0 and2.1), some of which are discussed in this paper. All the programs and their user’s manuals are placed on the World Wide Web and can be found by going to http: //www. usbr. gov/pmts/sediment/. The present paper provides a brief overview of the GSTARS3 model, emphasizing some of the newer features in the model. As an example of the application, the development of the delta in Tarbela Reservoir over 22 years is modeled, and the results are compared to measurements.
