Sediment Yield as Channel Processes Factor

Abstract: Sediment yield displays the morphology and dynamics of river channels through its correlation with a streamflow transport capacity. The latter is realized by suspended or bed material transport. The prevalence of the suspended load determines low channel stability, its shallowness and in case of excess of transporting capacity–the intensive accumulation. At the same time the bed configuration forms are relatively simple. At the bed load prevalence channels are considered to be more stable but are characterized by the greatest complexity and low rates of accumulation (the increase of bed level). These laws are shown in the direction from the north to the south, from mountains to plains, from continent center to its periphery.
