Abstract: Based on large-scale physical model test, this paper has analyzed the sediment transport characteristics in an inverted siphon with drop shaft. The analysis shows that the horizontal conduit is the key section, which limits the carrying capacity of sediment. Under the condition that there is no obvious sediment accumulation on the bed of the conduit, when sand grain Reynolds number increases, the dimensionless shear stress decreases. There exists good exponential relationship between the dimensionless sediment-carrying capacity and dimensionless water flow shear stress. The carrying capacity of sediment is then obtained.
