Abstract: Procypris rabaudi is a Cyprinidae species found only in the middle and upper Yangtze. In the China Species Red List (2009), the species was listed as vulnerable. The fish migrates short-distances and populations are declining due to dam construction. Fish passage systems are being built to mitigate impacts and flow velocity criteria are based on fish swimming behavior [1,2]. In this study, the effects of fatigue on P. rabaudi swimming capability and oxygen consumption were investigated. The results of this study show the relationship between swimming ability and respiration and can be used to optimize fish passage design for P. rabaudi.
