Influences of River Bank Protection Structures on Sediment Characteristics and Phosphorus Distributions

Abstract: Man-made hydraulic structures such as revetments and groynes are constructed worldwide along alluvial rivers for the protection of banks and embankments. Those structures play important roles in the disaster mitigation and the planform management of a river system. On the other hand, they exert impacts on the river flow and mass transport in their proximity and may furthermore influence the eco-systems in the riparian zones. In this study, the influences of a group of groyne structures on the sediment transport and phosphorus distributions are investigated.
