Abstract: There are different kinds of environmental stresses that adversely affect the physiology of a living organisms. Here in this study the water stress due to fluctuating water levels faced by riparian plant community along the Hie River in japan was examined. The plant releases reactive oxygen species as and when they are subjected to environmental stresses. In this study concentration of hydrogen peroxide which is an indicator of reactive oxygen species was measured for four different plant species in order to evaluate the best suitable living condition and manage the riparian plant community.
