Because of the climate and the easy access to water, tomatoes can be grown all year round on Inle Lake, unlike in the rest of Myanmar. Tomato crop is major among vegetable and get much household incomes. Now the lake is facing nitrate pollution due to heavy chemical fertilizer use and pesticide pollutions due to injudicious use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, to grow tomato plants and to control insect pests and diseases infected to tomato plants.
