Abstract: This study focuses on the treatment of wastewater containing activated dye RB19 using adsorption on Tra Bac activated charcoal in the forms of granule (size 1mm-2mm) and powdered (size< 0,1mm), which is a type of activated charcoal produced domestically with low cost. The research indicated that Tra Bac activated charcoal has a quite large surface area S of nearly 700m /g, capillary radius of~15A, capillary volume of~0,06cm /g. The charcoal is able to adsorb RB19 reactive dye with q =3,77mg/g for granular charcoal and q =55,6mg/l for powdered charcoal. The adsorption process is in accordance with the first-order kinetics.
