Abstract: In the upper Makawa river basin, tourist spots and the habitats of rare species, high sabo dams were planned to build for sediment discharge control. However, building high sabo dams might change the current landscape and the environment of habitats. Thus, we considered the height and the arrangement of the sabo dams using numerical simulation and hydraulic model experiment and proposed the effective plan from the viewpoint of scenery, ecology, sediment control effect and economy efficiency.
