Abstract: The piano key weir has a high-efficiency discharge capacity. The discharge capacity is related to the key structural parameters of the piano key weir and the water head on the weir. In this study, combining with the existing experimental data, a new discharge coefficient formula including multiple structural parameters L/W, B/P, Wi/Wo and Bo/Bi was proposed based on least squares method and genetic algorithm, and the predicted results is in good agreement with the experimental data relating to a large number of different piano key weir types with the average error less than 8%. This formula has a wide range of application for calculation analysis of its discharge capacity of piano key weir and helps to provide a reference.
