Abstract: The need to mitigate the problems derived from the alteration of the hydrological cycle in urban areas, such as surface flooding, collapse of sanitation networks, erosion and polluting discharges, has acquired great relevance today. The treatment of urban runoff water has become a priority within the environmental management of cities. In this way, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) have established themselves as the main alternative to traditional stormwater management. This paper presents the first results obtained in the evaluation of a SuDS pilot project installed in the parking lot of the University Campus of the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) in Tudela, Navarra (Spain). The ability of the SuDS to attenuate the peak of the outlet hydrograph and the total volume discharged into the network has been studied by simulating two important recorded rainfall events with the IBER model. The objective is to analyze hydrological design criteria that facilitate the adequate dimensioning of similar SuDS.
