Abstract:

To mitigate the present climate crisis, the global community must achieve a large-scale, sustainedreduction in greenhouse gas emissions, by moving away from a predominantly fossil fuel-basedeconomy to one dominated by renewable energy. The Sustainable Development Goal #7 (SDG7) of UN,‘Affordable and Clean Energy’, has been set up to facilitate global challenges in the fast developmentof modern renewable energy systems. This article provides an overview of the present global statusof hydropower, wind and solar power, the three most significant renewable electricity technologies.
