Abstract: The effect of re-aeration rate on biodegradation of organic compounds has been studied. The calculation are done by Streeter-Phelps Model and non-linear BOD-Do model respectively. It is found that the calculated value is more approximate to experimental value with the latter model in which the change of dissolved oxygen concentration effect on the rate of biodegradation under the condition of high concentration of organic compound is consider. Based on the above results, a parameter has been put up to determine when the effect of dissolved oxygen concentration on biodegradation in water quality model is considered.
