Abstract: In this paper the Saint-Venant equations with source term are used to numerically study the flood in the mainstream with lateral inflow. The influences of the confluent ratio, the confluent angle and the meeting of flood peaks in the branch and mainstream on the mainstream's flood water elevation have been analyzed meticulously. A few conclusions concerning the confluent effects of branch on the mainstream flooding have been drawn in the end.
