Abstract: The process of energy dissipation and turbulent characteristics of pressure fluctuations in hydraulic jumps have been the subject of many studies. Since damages due to pressure fluctuations under hydraulic jump have occurred in several stilling basins around the world, the need for supplementary experimental and theoretical researches seems to be quite necessary. The study reported herein contains useful information on the effect of inflow conditions on pressure fluctuations beneath hydraulic jump. Experiments were performed for froude numbers from 6 to 10, with chute slopes of 00,100,250 and 350. The results are presented for both hydraulic jumps located on the chute as well as at the base of the chute. Statistical characteristics of pressure fluctuations such as, RMS and peak values of positive and negative pressure fluctuations and and pressure amplitudes with different probability of occurrence are also presented.
