Abstract: On the basis of the existing experimental data, a method was established to calculate the velocity profile of self-aerated flow. The view point was put forward that aeration has the effect to decrease the turbulent intensity and increase velocity gradient and maximum velocity on a vertical line, which results in the power of the exponential velocity formula near bottom is greater than 1/7. The calculated velocity profiles were compared with the experimental data, and in good agreement.
