Abstract: Statistic distribution of wave forces on vertical wall with chamfered and overhanging upper sections, which have different top slope, is received little attention. A series of systematic tests were conducted to investigate the effects of the top slope on the statistic distribution of wave forces. An indicator parameter is adopted to quantify the coincidence degree between experimental distribution and Weibull distribution. It is found that the statistic distributions of wave forces on top sloping vertical walls no longer fit well with the Weibull distribution in some particular cases and the experimental distributions show some relationship with reflection coefficient of top sloping vertical wall. So the reflection coefficient is discussed firstly. The relationship between the indicator parameter and reflection coefficient has been classified into three types and each type is discussed. Finally, experimental distribution parameters obtained by maximum likelihood estimate are compared with previous conclusion when wave forces fit well with Weibull distribution and the difference between them is indicated when wave force data deviate from Weibull distribution.
