Abstract: To improve a flow regime in the urban river, a groundwater utilization project by injecting the riparian groundwater into the river channel was investigated in this research. By using our hydraulic model on the interaction between river and aquifer, it became clear that the flow regime of the river could be improved by injecting of the groundwater which was pumped up from well at many spots. However, because the over-pumping of groundwater causes the large decline of groundwater-table distribution and the land subsidence due to consolidation of the clayey soil stratum, it was pointed out that it was necessary to evaluate the best pumping rate and the influence over the aquifer around beforehand.
