Abstract: In the European Union project HYLOW the Institute for Engineering Design of the University of Rostock and the Institute of Ocean Engineering are responsible for the geometrical design of the model of a free stream energy converter. The permanent constructive control of this design is as necessary as the monitoring of the behavior of the model positioned in the field. Apart from very low head differences, restraints concerning flow velocity (ca. 1 -1,5m/s) and restrictions in the use of material (steel) can be expected. A complex product meeting the demand for mobility will be created, which is convincing in terms of economy, ecology and of course technical realization.
